Isle Of Man Sport Institute

Launched in September 2006, the Isle of Man Institute of Sport aims to provide top-class support services to our athletes.

It has been shown that to succeed in top level sport, you usually need help in a number of areas. Athletes who suffer from injury or illness, who are unhappy in other areas of their life or perhaps who do not look after themselves as well as they should will not fulfil their potential. Our aim to help “the best to be best they can be” – providing support in these areas is essential towards future success.

Support is organised by Chris Quine, Sports Performance Co-ordinator, who is responsible for regular liaison with the athletes and for communication with and between the various specialists.

The team work together for the welfare and benefit of the athletes. Having a small team means that the Support Team know all the athletes they are treating and as such are able to provide a higher level of support than maybe the case in a larger programme.

We provide support in a number of areas to the athletes on our programme:

In 2009 we are planning to house all services in our new purpose built Isle of Man Institute of Sport facility. This will be situated at the National Sports Centre in Douglas and will include a Strength and Conditioning Gym, Sports Education Suite, Consulting Rooms for medical staff, a Performance Lab and a Video Analysis and athlete recreation area.

We are grateful to the following for their generous support of the Institute:-
